Harassed and refused citizenship for participating in Democratic and Christian youth leagues. Arrested and driven to suicide for sending money home to the mainland. Sued for millions of dollars for printing China’s daily news. For years, thousands of Chinese Americans suspected of being Communists were singled out by the FBI and the INS and denied their cultural and familial ties to China, the root of their Chinese American identity.
