JUNKUSA, 1999, 85 mins, 16mm, color, English In an alienated
world where order and chaos are in constant collision, max r. and Christina
become lovers. JUNK is a love story during the verge of apocalypse.
Two wandering creatures meet in a space where time is diffusing, and
the past, present and future seem to collapse into one another. Previous
to their encounter, max r. methodically collects and categorizes urban
debris. Christina, on the other hand, lives for chance and involves
herself in radical acts. Using creative narration and intertitles, love
is theorized and located somewhere between knowledge and revolution.
Examining human existence, Bogawa combines historical footage of an
optimistic future with elegant shots of desolate industrial landscapes,
tumultuous weather patterns and surveillance imagery. Strange mechanical
sounds and an evocative soundtrack are layered with the poetic images,
creating a visceral edge to the film. Bogawa is influenced preceded by USA, 1999, 13 mins,
