Jon Moritsugu's films, including the features FAME WHORE, TERMINAL USA, and MOD FUCK EXPLOSION, have screened around the world to popular and critical acclaim. He is currently in pre-production for his new feature, which will be shot in San Francisco in early 2000.

TIMES HAVE CHANGED! 5 reasons why it's COOLER to be an ASIAN AMERICAN now than 10 years ago:

1. Most people now understand that Asia is composed of a buncha different countries with different cultures.

2. There has been a rebirth of Asians as cool, bad-ass motherfuckers in film, music, fashion and pop culture (i.e.: The Boredoms, Emily's Sassy Lime, Jenny Shimizu, Junya Watanabe - Comme des Garcons). Even Hollywood has jumped on this (take a look at Jet Li in LETHAL WEAPON), although this is still the same ol' martial arts/action genre - yawn.

3. I'm asked MUCH LESS, "Tell me about your ESL program - you speak English so well!"

4. There is now a cool Asian underground scene (check out Giant Robot magazine).

5. My Asian brothers and sisters have finally broken free from the coke-bottle glasses, calculator on hip-pocket computer geek stereotype. In fact, this stereotype has landed in the lap of Range Rover-driving, San Jose types who aren't even ASIAN.
